Screw connection for 48 V ground point
Mercedes-Benz AG has found that the threaded connection of the 48 V ground point under the front passenger seat may be designed with too low a torque in certain vehicles of the GLE and GLS model series (model series 167).
In this case, the cable lug of the ground line would not be correctly secured. Due to this, the electric transitional resistance at this connection may be increased.
As a result, the temperature in this area may increase due to the high electrical currents that can flow through this connection. In this connection, a risk of fire cannot be completely ruled out.
The customer should make a booking with any approved Mercedes-Benz dealer and have the campaign carried out.
Recall number 9196007
Replace driver’s airbag
Joyson Safety Systems (successor organization to Takata) / Takata ("Takata"), the supplier of certain driver's airbags ("Takata airbags") installed in model series 461 vehicles, has determined that certain climatic conditions may over time lead to a chemical change in the airbag gas generator.
In the event of an accident with airbag deployment, this change may lead to the gas generator bursting. If this happens, the airbag would lose its restraining function and separating parts of the gas generator may enter the passenger compartment.
The customer should make a booking with any approved Mercedes-Benz dealer and have the campaign carried out once the parts are available in the country. The planned launch date is May 2020.
Recall number 8291604

MAY
Recall Number 4290006
Brake Booster
Mercedes-Benz AG has found that in certain vehicles of the model series ML, GL (model series 164), and R-Class (model series 251), the brake booster function may be impaired by advanced corrosion on the housing joining points.
After a prolonged vehicle operating time and in combination with extensive exposure to water, this corrosion could lead to leakage of the brake booster and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the brake force boosting. As a result, the brake pedal control forces required to decelerate the vehicle would increase and the braking distance may be extended as a result. Furthermore, in the case of particularly pronounced corrosion, it cannot be completely ruled out that mechanical damage to the brake booster may occur in the event of strong or heavier braking maneuvers and that the connection between the brake pedal and brake system would be interrupted.
In this very rare case, it would no longer be possible to brake the vehicle via the service brake. This would increase the risk of an accident and/or injury. Local legal regulations may not be complied with in this case. The function of the foot-operated parking brake is not impaired.
The customer should make a booking with any approved Mercedes-Benz dealer and have the campaign carried out.
