This two month shop floor training program is aimed to bridge preparing the unemployed school or college leaver for a job as a production worker in a typical manufacturing environment. Learners are given both theory and practical training to equip them with an understanding of the manufacturing world – topics covered include safety, hand tools, power tools, quality, logistics and production systems. No previous exposure to tools is assumed, so learners are taken through the basics in a motivating environment and equipped with skills that will build confidence to enter the working world.
Typical work-place conditions are simulated in our shop floor training to develop an appreciation of documentation, operating instructions, work ethic, team-work and a continuous improvement mind-set. Once qualified, all learners are placed into a database and are actively marketed with local manufacturing firms, thereby vastly increasing their employment opportunities. Unemployed learners are paid a stipend for the duration of their training to support transport and meal costs (an on-site canteen is available) – they are also provided the necessary personal protective equipment as generally required in the shop floor environment.
